St James church would be pleased to perform a Church of England baptism ceremony for babies and for older people. Baptisms are normally held at St James on the second Sunday each month, except in November when they are held on the fourth Sunday so as not to clash with the Remembrance Celebration around the war memorial.

You may enter details of your child and family on the baptism registration form and this is sent to the Yate Parish Office. Alternatively you may send a simple message to the Parish Office.

To keep the numbers manageable, the baptism service is limited to two families and a maximum of 150 guests total; so you might have to wait until a date is available. You should be aware that the church can be quite cold in winter, so you should ask your guests to wrap up well.

Parents and children are invited to attend a 10.30am Sunday morning service prior to the baptism date and introduce themselves to the congregation over coffee afterwards. Alternatively parents and children are invited to a coffee morning on Wednesday at 10am to get to know people from the village of Westerleigh.
